Start productizing your data for better interoperability and trust
Today in various services and business processes, same data is being copied and transferred in different and incompatible formats thousands and thousands of times. Better interoperability of services and digital trust start from the capability of productized data.
Data products are a way to define structured data contents in an easy and understandable way. The semantic meanings and definitions of the data contents are defined clearly and explicitly so that both people and machines can understand the data contents in the same way. In addition, data products can be associated with authentication and consent capabilities that can be used to control who and in which application can use the data.
In its data product definitions, Virtual Finland utilizes the data structures and vocabularies specified on the Finnish interoperability platform. On the technical level, you can start by reading more about the data productization flow and familiarizing with the data definitions API docs that show which data products are available on the Virtual Finland testbed.

Authenticate also foreigners digitally and on different levels
Authenticate also foreigners digitally and on different levels
A secure and user-controlled digital identity is the basis for the use of almost any digital service and data sharing. Both government and private sector organizations are currently struggling with how to enrol and authenticate especially foreign persons in their services.
Virtual Finland is investigating and bringing available authentication solutions where user can be authenticated not just strongly but also with lower levels that can already open up many avenues for the development of the cross-border digital services. The distributed authentication flow between the applications, Virtual Finland dataspace and the data sources rely on openly standardized protocols (OpenID Connect) and tokens. The government initiatives regarding eIDAS2.0 and related developments are also been followed and the collaboration started to make both solutions compatible.
Currently, we are collaborating with the Finnish Authetication Co-operative to bring their authentication solution available to be tested in any upcoming pilot on the Virtual Finland testbed.

Control who can access your data products

The consent and digital digits are an integral part for making the data sharing trusted and controlled. Virtual Finland is currently investigating and developing the best alternatives to serve as a base for the future open standards for consenting data.
The Virtual Finland testbed roadmap includes the capability to test out cloud wallets for storing consent from authenticated users and validating their existence from the data sources. In the first stage, the testbed offers rough capabilities to test out the consent for those use cases that require it.
